Jay Ekenberg’s view is that many people’s dissatisfaction and loss of passion stems from not maturing in our sex lives. We develop many areas in our lives as we mature, but not sexually. Most of us still having the same sort of sex as when we were 17: what he calls “friction sex” doesn’t satisfy a person or a couple’s long-term fundamental needs.

Jay offers an alternative, love life from a more meditative approach, which might be described as feeling implosive rather than explosive. What naturally leads from this, Johan says, is that, when people “grow up” sexually it often generates a change in their emotional and social life.

In his book Sex: A Motorway to God (only available in Swedish at the moment), Jay Ekenberg writes about this as “grown-up” sex: “Few people know – or are even aware of – that there is a meditative aspect to love life, which might be described as feeling implosive rather than explosive.”
